A Huge and Hopeful project <3
The Painted Umbrella started out as a Facebook group of people who have shown amazing support for a possibly unrealistic but hopeful idea. We were just starting out and fundraising when Covid-19 hit in 2020.
The Painted Umbrella project tucked back under the wing of Complex Strengths and The Neurodiverse Universe, and every working minute since the beginning of lockdown in March 2020 has been dedicated to supporting families and developing resources ready to deploy as we properly come out the other side of Covid-19 restrictions.
We passionately believe that we need a cultural shift toward higher levels of respect, understanding, and equity, on all levels, in many of our services and our communities. Let alone have the basic educational needs of our SEN children be met without opposition, strife and tribunals.
Our neurodivergent children and young people, their families, their teachers and schools are fighting an incredibly hard battle and they’ve a long way to go before it gets easy.
The Painted Umbrella was created to connect, inform, raise extra awareness and hopefully raise funds to offer free training to an army of Neurodiversity Champions and Allies who will in turn be able to offer workshops in schools across the UK.
